This school is located in 'Ka' village, Prithwibasti, Punarwas Municipality Ward No. 8. Statistical data regarding the population of the community residing within the catchment area of this school is presented below. Examining the community composition of this region reveals that there are two settlements exclusively inhabited by the Rana community, while most other settlements consist of a mixed population living together in mutual harmony and tolerance. Various entities exist in the villages, including sports clubs, governmental and non-governmental organizations, cooperatives, women’s groups, child clubs, political party organizations, as well as a study center and a literary organization.
Because this is entirely a rural area, the community is distributed across various hamlets. Houses range from temporary huts to semi-permanent and fully concrete structures. Although roads are unpaved, they are well-organized. In squatter settlements, houses are densely packed, whereas in other areas, the distance between houses can reach up to 25 meters. Compared to the past, settlements are becoming denser and houses are clustering closer together. Due to the fragmentation of joint families into nuclear households, the number of families is increasing; however, family sizes are generally shrinking. It is observed that poverty correlates with a higher number of children, while prosperity correlates with smaller family sizes.
The entire territory of the former Parasan Village Development Committee (VDC)—specifically current wards 7 to 9 of Punarwas Municipality—falls within this region. This area includes settlements such as Khadda, Kakad, Parasan, Motiya, Dhansiya, and Bichphanta, where almost 100% of the population belongs to the Tharu community. Similarly, Buddha Basti (Chagaon) is exclusively inhabited by Tamang people, while other villages such as Prithvi, Sitabasti, Bichphanta, Motiya, and Dhansingha are home to Brahmin, Chhetri, Dalit, Thakuri, Gurung, and Magar communities.
On average, children appear to be the predominant demographic. Eighteen years ago, there were only 9 schools in this area, but that number has now grown to 17, and school-aged children can be seen everywhere. Youths are less visible as they frequently migrate elsewhere in search of employment. Elderly women outnumber elderly men. Similarly, female students outnumber male students in schools. Like many rural areas, one can commonly find students who enroll in school only after crossing the age of 5 or 6, repeat the same grade multiple times, drop out for a year or two before re-enrolling, or struggle academically with little interest in studying. The students of this school are no exception to these challenges, as a result of which many over-aged students can still be seen lingering in lower grades.
